Local non-profit organization formed in 1983, the objective of the Bishop Hill Arts Council is to promote those arts and artisans that reflect the traditions of Bishop Hill. The Council sponsors performing and visual artists at events and activities throughout the year. The proceeds from the Arts Council Quilt Raffle fund an annual Arts Scholarship awarded to a local high school student.

The office, museum, and archives of the Bishop Hill Heritage Association. The BHHA was organized in 1962 to preserve Colony buildings and culture. Open for group tours by appointment. The BHHA features educational programming and operates a second museum at the 1908 Krans Livery Stable. Room is available in the 1854 Steeple Building for conferences, classes, workshops, family gatherings, etc. Contact the BHHA for details or to arrange a rental.
Steeple Building, April thru December:  Monday thru Friday 10am to 5pm; Saturday noon to 4pm, Sunday 1pm to 4pm. Livery Stable, Monday thru Friday 10am to 5pm. 

Bishop Hill Old Settlers' Association (BHOSA) #26 on the map

The Old Settlers’ Association was organized in 1896 to observe the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Bishop Hill Colony. Since 1962, Old Settlers’ Day has been celebrated on the second Saturday in September. In 1953 the BHOSA started the local preservation movement when it purchased and restored the 1861 Colony School. The BHOSA sponsors public events throughout the year. The Colony School is available to rent for events and social gatherings. Contact the BHOSA for more information and to reserve a date.
